About Us

The Summer Camp is run through the Van Riper Ellis Baptist Church.  We strive to create a Christ-centered experience to help lay the foundations for faith and to give our children the tools they need to successfully meet the challenges of life and make positive contributions to their world.

Our summer program offers structured class schedules for ages 3-10. The curriculum is designed to incorporate the STEAM movement championed by Rhode Island School of Design and widely adopted by institutions, corporations and individuals.

All campers will have opportunities for project-based STEAM lessons, daily playground time and water play, choice time, bible lessons, literacy, math and for the older kids, field play is also an option. We also provide scooters and tricycles for outdoors and we have indoor tricycles as well. Younger campers will have story time, music and movement daily. A large indoor and air-conditioned space is also available for rainy and extremely hot days. We also have special events and assemblies  planned throughout the summer.

History

The Broadway Baptist Church was founded on May 31, 1868, as the Weavertown Mission Sunday School. The Van Riper Ellis Memorial Church began as a Sunday School Class at the home of Mrs. Eleanor Van Riper in 1870.

In 1985, they consolidated, forming the Van Riper Ellis Broadway Baptist Church.
